形态描述：灌木，高1-3米；枝灰色；小枝灰棕色，无毛或稍有毛，密生直刺，稀无刺；刺下向，细长针状。叶有小叶5，稀3；叶柄长3-7厘米，无毛，稀有细刺；小叶片薄纸质，倒卵状长圆形，稀卵形，长2.5-6厘米，宽1.5-2.5厘米，先端尖或短渐尖，基部狭楔形，两面均无毛，边缘有不整齐细重锯齿，侧脉约，对，两面不甚明显，网脉不明显；无小叶柄或几无小叶柄。伞形花序单个顶生，直径1.5-2厘米，有花多数；总花梗粗短，长5-7毫米，稀长至2厘米，有时几无总花梗，无毛；花梗长5-7毫米，无毛；花白色；萼长约2毫米，边缘近全缘，无毛；花瓣5，卵形，长约2毫米；雄蕊5，花丝长约2毫米；子房5室；花柱5，基部合生。果实球形，有5稜，黑色，直径8毫米。花期6-7月，果期8-10月。
